Certificate of Restoration

About this restoration
This large round mahogany dining table features a carefully planned cross-matched veneer top: four book-matched panels arranged from the center outward so the grain radiates in a sunburst pattern toward the reeded edge. The restoration focused on bringing that intentional design, depth, warmth, and natural mahogany character back into view through a complete refinish and clear protective finish system.
What we restored
The existing surface finish had dulled the visual depth of the mahogany and obscured the carefully arranged veneer pattern. The goal was not to change the original design, but to restore clarity, warmth, and even sheen so the book-matched panels could read the way the maker intended.
What we did
- Carefully stripped the existing finish to expose the mahogany veneer without compromising the pattern below.
- Prepared the veneer surface to restore clarity while preserving the intentional book-matched layout.
- Revived the natural depth and warmth of the mahogany so the radial grain movement reads clearly again.
- Refined the reeded edge profile so it appears sharp, clean, and visually connected to the tabletop.
- Applied a clear protective finish system for a glassy, durable surface with even sheen and long-term protection.
Care tips
- Use coasters, placemats, and felt pads to prevent moisture rings and surface scratches.
- Do not drag décor, serving pieces, or tableware across the veneer surface.
- Clean with a soft microfiber cloth; avoid ammonia, alcohol, silicone sprays, and abrasive cleaners.
- Wipe spills promptly, especially near the reeded edge and veneer seams.
- If the finish begins to lose clarity or sheen, book maintenance early.
