What was wrong

These Ethan Allen nightstands arrived completely stripped to bare wood. There was no remaining finish, no protective topcoat, and no hardware installed. The pair had been taken back to “ground zero,” leaving us to rebuild the look, color, and finish system from scratch.

What we did

• Prepared all bare wood surfaces for a consistent, even custom finish.
• Developed a custom warm brown stain to pull out the natural grain movement and depth in the wood.
• Applied a layered finish system to create a rich, dimensional appearance across both nightstands.
• Cleaned and restored the original Ethan Allen bail-drop pulls before reinstalling them.
• Matched both nightstands as one cohesive set so tone, sheen, and visual depth remain consistent side by side.

Care tips

• Use coasters and felt pads to protect the tops from water rings and scratches.
• Dust with a soft microfiber cloth; avoid harsh cleaners and silicone sprays.
• Wipe spills promptly and avoid leaving wet items directly on the finish.
