About this restoration

These tall ladderback dining chairs came through our Fort Collins shop as a matched set in need of a full visual reset. Once stripped back to bare wood, every curve, crest, and wavy ladderback slat became visible again, giving us the right starting point to rebuild the finish properly.

What was wrong

The chairs had reached the point where the old surface no longer showed off their shape or detail the way it should. They needed to be taken back to the frame, smoothed, prepped, and refinished so the sculptural backs and overall set could read cleanly and consistently again.

What we did

• Stripped the chairs to bare wood so the full frames could be restored from a clean starting point.
• Prepared and smoothed the surfaces across the legs, back posts, seats, and serpentine slats.
• Refinished the full set in a crisp white painted finish to give the chairs a clean, bright, cohesive look.
• Restored visual consistency across all three chairs so they read as one matched dining set.
• Brought out the shape of the ladderback design so the curves and wavy slats stand out clearly again.

Care tips

• Dust regularly with a soft microfiber cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners or scrub pads.
• Wipe spills promptly to protect the painted finish.
• Lift rather than drag the chairs to reduce stress on joints and legs.
• Use felt pads on the feet to help protect both the chairs and your floors.
• If chips, scuffs, or finish wear start showing, book maintenance early.
