Certificate of Restoration

About this restoration
This large antique cabinet combines scale, carving, veneer, and marquetry in a way that makes it a true statement piece. It features a carved broken pediment, shaped apron, bombe-style lower drawer fronts, claw-and-ball feet, and floral marquetry made from multiple wood species across the visible door panels and casework.
What we restored
The cabinet’s design depends on the relationship between its burl veneer, hand-laid floral marquetry, carved details, and brass hardware. The refinish was intended to bring depth, warmth, contrast, and clarity back to those original features without flattening the layered visual character of the piece.
What we did
- Completed a full refinish across the cabinet from top to bottom, including the sides, doors, drawer fronts, base, and carved elements.
- Restored the floral marquetry surfaces so the hand-laid botanical patterns and multiple wood tones could read clearly again.
- Refinished the burl veneer areas to bring back depth, warmth, and natural movement in the wood.
- Refreshed carved details including the broken pediment, shaped apron, and claw-and-ball feet.
- Cleaned and polished the brass hardware to complement the restored wood finish and overall presentation.
- Balanced color and sheen across the cabinet so every section reads as one cohesive restored piece.
Care tips
- Dust gently with a soft microfiber cloth; avoid abrasive cloths and harsh spray cleaners.
- Do not place wet glasses, plants, or décor directly on the wood surfaces.
- Keep the cabinet away from heat vents, high humidity, and prolonged direct sunlight.
- Open doors and drawers gently to protect the original joinery, hardware, and decorative veneer work.
- Use care around carved edges and claw-and-ball feet when moving or cleaning around the piece.
- If the surface begins to dull or show wear, book maintenance early.
