What was wrong
This nearly 7-foot-tall, 9-foot-wide hand-built solid pine closet was fully painted with a bold Southwestern mural, including chili pepper panels and a decorative top border.
The goal was a complete transformation: remove the decorative paint layer without damaging the solid pine underneath, then refinish the entire piece in a rich, warm tone.
What we did
- Complete paint removal of the decorative Southwestern layer across all surfaces and panels.
- Progressive surface preparation through careful sanding to reach clean, even solid pine.
- Warm stain application chosen to complement the natural pine grain (not cover it).
- Hardware cleaning & reset so the original hardware sits correctly against the new finish.
- Full cabinet refinishing across a large-format structure (approximately 63 sq. ft. of surface area).
Care tips
- Dust with a microfiber cloth; avoid abrasive pads.
- Use gentle cleaners only; avoid harsh degreasers and solvent-based sprays.
- Wipe up spills promptly; don’t allow standing moisture on edges or seams.
- If the finish begins to look dry/dull, book maintenance early for best longevity.
