Certificate of Restoration
What was wrong
This mid-century modern walnut cabinet arrived with a finish that had gone beyond tired and into genuinely cloudy—oxidized, dulled, and lacking depth. The walnut veneer’s warmth and grain movement were buried, and the two-tone design (walnut carcass with black accent doors) no longer read the way it was intended.
What we did
- Full stripping of the degraded cloudy finish from all wood surfaces.
- Veneer-safe surface preparation appropriate to walnut veneer construction.
- Refinish to restore deep, warm, natural walnut tone with clear grain figure.
- Restored the black accent doors to a clean, consistent flat-black for sharp contrast.
- Protective topcoat applied across all surfaces at a period-appropriate sheen level.
Care tips
- Dust with a soft microfiber cloth; avoid silicone spray polishes.
- Use coasters and felt pads; avoid dragging objects across surfaces.
- Keep out of direct sunlight to reduce fading.
- If the finish begins to dull or show wear, book maintenance early.
