Certificate of Restoration
What was wrong
This antique dining set had exceptional “bones” but the finish was no longer doing the piece justice. The table leaves were hiding striking figured grain under a worn, tired surface, and the chair frames needed careful finish restoration—while keeping the original needlepoint seat cushions completely untouched.
What we did
- Full hand-worked refinish of the table leaves to develop and protect the natural grain.
- Careful chair-frame finish restoration across the full set (no spray work near textiles).
- Color and sheen matching so the table and chairs read as one cohesive unit.
- Preserved original needlepoint seats on every chair—no threads disturbed.
- Final set evaluation under multiple lighting conditions to ensure a true match.
Care tips
- Use placemats/coasters and felt pads; avoid dragging items across the leaves.
- Dust wood with a microfiber cloth; avoid harsh chemical cleaners.
- Keep needlepoint seats dry; blot spills immediately (don’t scrub).
- If sheen begins to dull in high-use areas, book maintenance early.
