What was wrong

This extraordinary antique carved table arrived as a base only—highly detailed carvings throughout, but no tabletop. Without a surface, the piece was incomplete and non-functional, regardless of how remarkable the base was.

What we did

• Full assessment of the carved antique base and existing finish condition.
• Custom solid walnut top fabricated in-house to the correct scale and proportion.
• Edge profile + overhang fitting to complement (not compete with) the carved apron details.
• ML Campbell conversion varnish applied to the walnut top for durability and clarity.
• Base finish cleaning/toning to align color and sheen for a cohesive final piece.

Care tips

• Use coasters and felt pads; avoid dragging heavy objects across the top.
• Clean with a soft microfiber cloth; avoid harsh chemical cleaners.
• Wipe spills promptly; avoid prolonged heat/moisture exposure on the surface.
• If the sheen begins to dull or the surface sees heavy use, book maintenance early.
